An Eastern Cape father is seeking closure after his daughter went missing over a year ago.

Phumza Gambula is accused of defrauding the OR Tambo District Municipality and appeared in the Mthatha Magistrate’s court on Thursday.

Gambula, who is out on R20 000 bail is facing two counts of fraud amounting to R4.8 million.

Yesterday Police Minister Bheki Cele ordered a crew, that was filming on the beach, to stop its production.

He was on a walkabout inspecting the city's beaches on Wednesday.

Cele claimed the shoot was in breach of COVID-19 protocols.

Police in the Eastern Cape shut down a traditional gathering in Kubusi village outside Qumbu in the Eastern Cape on Friday.

The event was supposed to be a homecoming for 25 young men who were returning from initiation school.

However, traditional gatherings are banned under the current lockdown regulations.
